The consulting engineering firm Dupras Ledoux is pleased to announce that, after more than 25 years as president, André Dupras is stepping down and passing the leadership to James Gabriel, an engineer with the firm since 2007 and a partner since 2014. André will now focus on special projects while continuing to share his expertise with the firm’s engineers.
Throughout André Dupras’ remarkable career, he has been known for his visionary thinking, strong leadership, and his ability to deliver high-performance mechanical designs across a wide range of building types. His expertise has been pivotal in several iconic projects, including the Cirque du Soleil amphitheater at the Bellagio Hotel in Las Vegas, the Burj Khalifa observatory in Dubai, Le Diamant Theatre in Quebec, the Caisse de dépôt et placement du Québec building, the Cité du Commerce Électronique, the New Maison de Radio-Canada, the Balmoral building, and numerous major residential towers in downtown Montreal.
André’s vision for Dupras Ledoux has always been clear: to remain at the forefront of innovation. Not only has he pioneered the adoption of new technologies, but he has also encouraged his team to experiment and embrace innovative ideas. Today, he proudly hands over a dynamic and respected firm to a new leadership team, well-regarded by key players in Quebec’s construction industry.
“Being forward-thinking means recognizing the potential of the next generation and giving them the space to grow,” says André Dupras. “This leadership team has been developing for more than 15 years, which gives me full confidence in the future of Dupras Ledoux as I pass the baton.”
James Gabriel, a graduate of Concordia University in engineering, joined Dupras Ledoux in 2007. He worked alongside André on major projects, benefiting from his vast experience, and quickly took on the management of large-scale initiatives. With over 20 years of experience in consulting engineering and project management within the construction sector, the new president aims to drive the firm’s growth by staying true to the core values that have defined its success: service excellence, performance, open-mindedness, and respect.
“The trust André has placed in me, and the doors he has opened, have allowed me to step into this role,” says James. “He is someone I admire greatly, and I am fortunate to be able to continue seeking his advice, both personally and professionally.”
As president, James is committed to enhancing Dupras Ledoux’s technical expertise, exploring new markets, developing strategic partnerships, and fostering a culture of creativity and innovation within the team. To support him, the company’s leadership structure has been reorganized, with vice-presidential roles assigned to the three other partners who joined the firm’s ownership in 2014.
Guillaume des Trois Maisons-Rose has been appointed Vice President – General Management, overseeing both employee development and operational management. Laurent Laframboise becomes Vice President – Major Projects, continuing to strengthen relationships with contractors and architects for institutional and large-scale projects. Lastly,Frédéric Legentil has been named Vice President – Energy Efficiency, where he will promote the value-added efficiency services offered by Dupras Ledoux, integrating practical and achievable energy solutions into every project through the firm’s expertise in electromechanical design.
